We created this space for deathworkers, artists, and community-seekers to have meaningful conversations, find playful collaboration, and connect through soul-stirring community and creative mentorship. We recognize that Death is silently woven into every breath, informing the work each of us brings to the world and shaping the ways we love one another.
LA MORT / L’AMOUR exists because we are not meant to do this alone. We gather to share our stories, our art, and our wisdom; to witness and be witnessed; and to remember that our magic grows best in the company of others.

If you are an artist of any discipline (we’ve found it uncanny how many photographers there are in the death space!) who recognizes that death informs the work of each of us, whether we realize it or not, and you want to explore your relationship with death, grief, and legacy, then this membership is for you. Coming summer 2025, we’ll be opening new artist-centered groups and projects.
Community-Seekers
If you’re a death-curious person, an entrepreneur, or a seeker who feels drawn to the kinds of vital ideas and multidimensional topics we explore here, and you want to embolden your work, enrich your relationships with death and dying, and build true, meaningful friendships, come on in! We schedule new classes, workshops, and guest teachers as we are able. This usually means 1-2 times per month, but sometimes it is far more often. Other times, we honor spaciousness and rest. We are committed to bringing you the highest quality teachings, guests, and experiences, and structure everything to resource this initiative.

As long as you stay in the membership, your monthly rate will remain the same. Founding Members lock in their low price forever. *If you cancel or lapse your membership and wish to rejoin, you would need to join at whatever the current rates are.

Join us in taking a radical stance in support of human-to-human connection. Death Pals is our new pen pal program where we handle all the logistics and assign you a pen pal (as we grow, you may even be assigned up to three pen pals!), and you bring your own style, put a stamp on it, drop letters in the mail, and receive magical things back. You can write about anything in Death Pals: death, grief, love, music, work, art, friendship… and you might even meet your future best friends.
Death Pals begins March 2025. Sign up now and we’ll be in touch with your penpal in late February. You can join or leave the club anytime.

Not at all (though we might argue that deathwork is itself an art)… this is a space for curious human beings from all backgrounds who want to come closer to Death and Mystery. That’s it.
We have noticed that an uncanny amount of photographers and artists cross over into the death space, and we’ve experienced firsthand how art & creativity enliven and inspire our own lives and work, so we built this space to merge the worlds. Death inspires art.. art imitates life.. and life begets death… we explore it all, and encourage you to take what resonates and leave the rest.
Why We Created This Space
LA MORT / L’AMOUR was born from a need we felt in our own lives - a longing for creative collaboration and mentorship, deep, off-the-map conversations, and soul-stirring community.
Belle has been behind the lens for over 18 years and running a business for 13. Lauren has been pioneering the death space for two decades, teaching and certifying others for the last 7. We wanted to combine our powers and create a space big enough to explore the intersection of death, art, ideas, and community. And most of all, we wanted to gather our friends, old and new, to bring their unique magic to the table.
We are living in a time of great change - an alchemical unfolding that began decades ago, carried forth by our ancestors and foremothers. As part of the timeless, vast mycelium of humanity, connected by invisible threads of love and memory, we are passionate about the new cultures are forming, new industries emerging, and new voices are being called to speak out and join together.
LA MORT / L’AMOUR is a part of this new something.

Our Teaching / Learning / Creating Style at La Mort
We leave behind the polished, gate-keepy approach to education. We teach in ways that carry story and experience. We listen. We laugh (a lot). We go off-script sometimes. We cry (with you)(for those you’ve loved)(for those we’ve loved). We like science and studies and logical frameworks, but also mysticism and poetry and all that stuff. We really love to honor history and those who came before. We move through some serious curricula, but don’t take anything too seriously. We dedicate ourselves to seeing you, and want you to feel seen. We deeply honor our intuition and yours. We lead with integrity (always). And we welcome the odd-balls and misfits, because it takes one to know one.
